Paying It Forward

Join me in my movement to make this world a better place. You can show me how you're helping improve this world. Together we can make a difference by doing something important for someone in need. That could become something they will remember and might change their lives for the better. It could also encourage them to do the same in return. God has always taught us to be kind to each other, to help each other, this will come back to you, it's Karma.

Email me your story of what you have done and how you made a difference and periodically I will post these on my blog. I will include your name and story and show everyone how you are trying to make this world better!

Please read the story below.

Here's one of the first articles for the Pay it Forward section. Jonathan Dupuis is the father of a child named Alexis, and he has an important message to share with us to convince everyone to do an act that can save many lives. Thanks Jonathan, your message will be heard and will have an impact!

Organ donor, Donor of life

"Did you know that each year 140 to 250 Canadians die while waiting for an organ transplant? Hiding behind this regrettable statistic is the fact that Canada’s transplant rate is one of the lowest among all the industrialized countries. At this exact moment, an average of about 4,000 people in Canada are on stand by for an organ transplant (heart, lungs, kidney, pancreas or liver).

More and more children are affected by liver diseases in Quebec. In the last 10 years, the Centre University hospital (CHU) Sainte-Justine has registered a jump from 20% to 30% of people in need. So much that today 1,400 kids will be under strict supervision.

Here's a little story about a child named Alexis Dupuis

Alexis was born June 7, 2007 in Sorel-Tracy. Unfortunately, he was born with a liver disease. He had to endure his first surgery when he was one month old, which ended up being a failure. The only option was a liver transplant. While Alexis was waiting for an organ, he was very sick, and the more time passed by, the worse his health was getting. His skin was yellow-orange, his stomach was swollen like a soccer ball and he was fed by gavage, he was getting tired rapidly...

After waiting just over one year, our little Alexis finally got his liver transplant on January 14, 2009.
That's why Alexis' parents want to see as many people as they can sign the back of their health card to authorize donating their organs. They don't want other families to have to wait as long as they did. They saw the health of their own child deteriorate, so they hope that no child or their parents will have to live through that again.

If only every person took the time to sign their health insurance card to donate their organs when they pass away, the medicine would save even more lives. Donating an organ, it’s a gift of life..."
