So after our association, I decided to create an event in Montreal to show Super-Glide Synthetic Ice to the population and the media. During the NHL Draft, right across from the Bell Center, on June 25, 26 and 27, 2009 my new business partner and I  created the  Super-Glide Canada company and built a Super-Glide Synthetic Ice rink with the help of Perry himself for everyone to see.

The response was awesome. We had thousands of people come to look at it and hundreds of kids skated on it.

As an NHL player I can say that this truly feels like ice. It demands no maintenance and has a 10-year warranty, but will last longer than that. After five years you can flip it over and skate on the other side, it's easy to assemble, similar to putting together a puzzle. I put it together with the kids. You can skate on it every day of the year, with as many people as you want and during the winter, you can flood it and turn it into an ice rink. When it melts, you can still skate on it. Super-Glide can be custom built for your basement, backyard or anywhere you want. Each panel size is eight feet by four feet, (Heavy Duty) and four feet by four feet for a less expensive home model. The Heavy Duty ice cost is about $20 per square foot, and on top of that, you can add boards, netting or anything elso you want.

One of the advantages for kids is the fact that the more they skate on Super-Glide, the stronger their legs become. When you skate on Super-Glide Synthetic Ice there's little resistance which works your muscles more. When you find yourself on real ice afterwards you will be flying. Considering at a young age kids can’t work out, this is a great way for their legs to become stronger for skating.
